STEAM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics
We have made ourselves a staple of STEAM education in Rowan County. While our focus is primarily on the Technology part of STEAM, we teach so many different topics that cover all sides of STEAM.
These are just a few of the STEAM skills that students will be exposed to.
We are actively seeking grants to make our after school program 100% free to everyone, and in the meantime have a "pay what you can" system. We will never turn away a student because of costs. A students value is NOT based on their financial status, just their willingness to learn and grow. We encourage everyone with interest in our programs to sign-up.
Here is an idea of what our typical schedule looks like each week. Keep in mind that sometimes we have to change the day's theme based on different factors. We operate our after school program on the same schedule as Rowan-Salisbury School District, this includes holiday breaks and cancellations.
2:30pm-4:00pm Students arrive.
This time is used for students to do their homework, grab a snack and socialize with other students. Lego, Minecraft, Board games, Books and other materials are available for students to use while in our facility.
3:30pm-5:00pm Lesson of the day
This is when the lesson of the day typically happens. If the lesson is student led and not instructor led each student may end up starting at a different time.
5:00pm-5:30pm Student pick up
Students are able to continue using our 'fun' materials while they wait for parent/guardian pick up. All students must be picked up by 5:30pm.
6:00pm Staff leave
